Awakening the Spirit
Michaela McGivern’s journey into clairvoyance and energy healing is deeply rooted in her early ability to perceive spirits and communicate with nature.
Although these experiences were initially kept private due to her religious upbringing, her time in Europe reignited her connection to these gifts, ultimately leading her to formally study and practice energy medicine and clairvoyance. Upon returning to the U.S., she embraced her talents fully, offering mediumship and clairvoyant readings to those in need of spiritual guidance and healing.
In her interview with MysticMag, Michaela shares how she now integrates her unique blend of skills to help clients find clarity, healing, and peace in their lives.
What inspired you to start your journey as a clairvoyant and energy healer?
As a child, I had the ability to see beyond the physical realm. I could perceive spirits and angels, and I communicated with nature spirits. However, I didn’t share these experiences with others because they didn’t align with the religious background I was raised in.
I kept these experiences hidden until I reached college, where I began hearing voices. I wasn’t prepared to handle this at the time, so I set it aside again. For a long time, I worked in traditional medicine as an occupational therapist for about 20 years. After taking a 10-year break and living in Europe, I resumed my career in the U.S. in 2000.
During my time in Europe, I was exposed to various alternative practices, which reignited my skills. I learned about energy medicine from an acupuncturist who was also a physician and psychic. This led me to explore tools like dowsing rods and other energetic methods. When I returned to the U.S., I pursued formal education in energy medicine and clairvoyance.
My connection to these abilities dates back to when I was about 22, during a visit to the Isle of Skye in Scotland (or possibly Ireland). There, I saw and heard spirits of nuns who had passed away. Despite having these experiences early on, I only fully embraced and formalized my practice when I returned to the U.S. in 2000.
By 2008, I began offering mediumship and clairvoyant readings to groups and officially recognized my skills in these areas. Today, my work seamlessly integrates energy healing with clairvoyance. I now approach both mediums as part of my practice, addressing spirits and energy as they arise, whether in healing sessions or readings.
How do you help clients through your clairvoyant readings and healing sessions?
I approach my work in three main areas: clairvoyant readings, mediumship, and energy healing.
Clairvoyant Readings: In my readings, clients often seek guidance on decisions or paths in their lives. I work with many spiritual guides who provide direct information about the best path forward. Additionally, I tap into the client’s energy to identify conflicts, openings, possibilities, and obstacles. This helps in understanding their situation and potential outcomes.
Sometimes, readings blend with mediumship. For example, if a client is dealing with the recent death of a loved one, I might combine clairvoyance with mediumship to address questions about the deceased, such as the circumstances of their death or how to support surviving family members.
Mediumship: In cases where clients need closure or understanding about a deceased loved one, I facilitate communication with the spirit. This could involve clarifying unresolved issues, understanding the spirit’s perspective, or helping the client decide on actions like pressing legal charges or fostering children. My goal is to provide resolution and clarity, enabling the client to make informed decisions and find peace.
Energy Healing: I use various techniques from shamanism and energy medicine to address clients’ energy structures. This includes identifying and clearing unwanted energies or spirits that may be affecting them. I also work on healing trapped spirits by facilitating their transition into the light, helping both the spirit and the client achieve closure and peace.
Additionally, I address trauma and lineage issues by clearing past life patterns and ancestral beliefs. My aim is to help clients feel more vibrant, connected, and present in their lives.
Overall, my work involves a combination of these practices, tailored to each client’s needs, to support their healing and personal growth.
What unique approaches or techniques set your practice apart from others in the field?
My practice stands out due to its unique blend of shamanism, energy healing, and practical health insights. I can perceive and communicate with interdimensional entities while remaining grounded and practical. My background in integrated health allows me to assess not only spiritual and emotional aspects but also physical health, including nutritional needs.
One distinctive tool I use is a dousing rod, which helps me analyze a person’s energy structure to identify root causes and evaluate the effectiveness of supplements. This holistic approach allows me to address physical, emotional, spiritual, and psychological needs comprehensively.
In a typical session, I start by examining practical aspects such as diet and lifestyle, then move on to address emotional challenges, and finally explore the client’s spiritual path. For instance, if a client experiences heartburn, I might identify a possible hernia and use physical manipulation to alleviate it. I then discuss dietary changes, stress management techniques, and emotional support, such as grounding practices and breathwork.
I approach each session without a preset agenda, allowing the client’s energy and my guides to guide the process. This ensures a personalized and responsive treatment plan that addresses each client’s unique needs.
Can you share a success story where your work significantly transformed a client’s life?
Certainly. Here are two success stories that illustrate the impact of my work:
The Case of Grief and Home Sale: A woman came to me a year after the death of her life partner of 15 years. She was struggling with grief and anxiety, particularly around the sale of their family home. During our session, I provided unexpected support, including forgiveness work that she and her partner had not yet resolved. I guided her through deep emotions and helped alleviate her physical pain, including a persistent lower back issue.
Additionally, we addressed the challenges of selling her home. I offered advice on space and land clearing, breaking down overwhelming tasks into manageable steps. She successfully sold the house and felt a profound sense of relief, both from knowing how to proceed with the sale and from unburdening her grief.
The Case of Understanding and Acceptance: Another client had lost her husband five years prior. She came to me seeking clarity about their life together and a deeper connection with his essence. Through our session, she gained a better understanding of her late husband and found a sense of calm and acceptance. She learned that the love and connection with him remained intact, which helped her move forward with peace and hope.
She appreciated the supportive and loving energy I brought to our session, which helped her communicate her questions and concerns. This experience not only provided her with answers but also offered a valuable learning experience about connecting with those who have passed.
Both stories highlight how my work can provide emotional relief, clarity, and a renewed sense of hope for clients.
How do you ensure the authenticity and effectiveness of your clairvoyant readings and healing sessions?
To ensure the authenticity and effectiveness of my clairvoyant readings and healing sessions, I focus on several key aspects:
1. Emotional Resonance: Authenticity is often confirmed by the emotional response of the client. When the information I provide resonates emotionally with them, it signals that it is genuine. I pay close attention to how clients respond emotionally to the information I share, as a match between the information and their emotional reaction indicates its authenticity.
2. Physical and Emotional Feedback: At the start of an energy healing session, I ask clients about their physical, emotional, and cognitive states. During the session, I check in with them about any changes they notice. For instance, clients might report feeling lighter, having less pain, or experiencing improved flexibility. These immediate physical sensations help gauge the effectiveness of the energy work.
3. Language and Communication Style: In mediumship sessions, I channel the language and style of communication of the person who has passed. Clients often recognize this authenticity through the specific way their loved one used to speak or their unique sense of humor. Changes in my voice or mannerisms can also reflect the deceased’s communication style, which helps clients feel that the connection is genuine.
4. Validation and Verification: During readings, I present options and information that align with what clients have been considering or contemplating. If the information I provide matches their thoughts or decisions, it validates the reading. Clients often feel relieved or moved when their experiences and emotions are accurately reflected.
5. Intuitive Connection: The authenticity of the session is also validated by the client’s own sense of truth. When clients feel that the information touches their hearts or matches their personal experiences, it confirms that the session is on point. People can generally sense when something is genuine versus artificial, which reinforces the effectiveness of the session.
By combining these approaches, I ensure that my readings and healing sessions are both authentic and impactful.
What new services or offerings are you excited to introduce in the near future?
At this stage in my life, I’m enjoying a slower pace and focusing on the services I currently offer. I work remotely a lot, conducting readings and sessions via Zoom, and I also provide land and space clearing for homes, offices, and land. This aspect of my work has become more prevalent since moving from California to North Carolina, where there has been a significant need for land clearing due to the historical trauma in the area.
Currently, I’m involved in a volunteer capacity at the Center for Conscious Living and Dying, where I help provide comfort and energy work to individuals in the last two months of their lives. This includes offering food, comfort, and a safe space for them. I’m also working on a plan to teach some of the volunteers how to handle trauma compassionately without absorbing it, which is essential to prevent burnout. This initiative is in development, and I’m discussing it with team leaders of the energy healing team.
I remain open to working with people across different time zones and locations, and I’m excited to continue integrating and expanding my skills.
